Slipknot's NZ tour to continue despite injury

Calm down maggots - heavy metal act Slipknot will still tour New Zealand in October, despite cancelling several European shows after the�band's drummer stone-broke his ankle.

Drummer Joey Jordison - i of the band's nine members - broke his ankle just now days ahead the band's European term of enlistment was sic to commence, forcing the masked metallers to delete several dates.

Doctors have told Jordison he needs to rest for between four-spot to six weeks.

But promoters today confirmed the band's New Zealand performance at Auckland's Trusts Stadium on October 22 would still go�ahead.

Slipknot volition perform with MachineHead at their entirely New Zealand show to promote their latest record album, All Hope Is Gone.

The band promised to retort to Europe in November to complete their hitch.�

Originally dubbed Reel, the newfangled group's lineup was complete with the increase of Tokyo-born bassist Taka Hirose. After signing to Echo in 1995, Feeder issued their debut EP, Two Colours, followed by the six-track Drown; a series of well-received singles -- "Stereophony World," "Tangerine corner," and "Cement" -- expanded the trio's fan base of operations further, and in mid-1997 they launched their uncut debut, Polythene. The hit "Day In, Day Out" preceded the handout of Feeder's soph try, 1999's Yesterday Went Too Soon. Despite non spotting on in America, Feeder maintained their popularity in Europe. In 2001, after touring the world relentlessly, Feeder achieved their discovery pip in the U.K. with "Horse Rogers." The starting time single from the band's tierce record book album, Sound reflection Park, eventually hit act quint on the charts. Before the year's close, the band scored another Top 20 come to with the Just a Day EP and strike the route with the Stereophonics. Tracks for a fourth record album were already in the works when tragedy struck. Founding member Jon Lee committed self-annihilation in his Miami home in early January 2002. He was 33. Nicholas and Hirose byword it rig to stay on with Feeder, and they resumed recording with other Skunk Anansie drummer Mark Richardson behind the outfit. The Gil Norton-produced Comfort in Sound was released the next October. In August 2004, Feeder issued a fan-friendly B-sides collecting called Picture of Perfect Youth, and Norton was once again slow the boards for the Pushing the Senses LP, which followed in 2005. A year later, with tours of Japan and Europe below their belts, Feeder released The Singles in mid-2006. The career-spanning waiver gathered 20 tracks from the band's five previous albums and a blade fresh rails entitled "Lost & Found." Select shows in Milan, Berlin, and London opening for the Rolling Stones followed that summer.

Drug Bust On Snoop's Tourbus

Two members of rapper SNOOP DOGG's entourage were arrested on Thursday (31Jul08) after a drug burst on his tourbus in Dallas, Texas, according to reports.

State troopers pulled over the bus because it was sporting expired stickers, according to PerezHilton.com.

Sources narrate the famous person gossip internet site two people were arrested for marijuana possession, and taken to nearby Navarro County Jail.

Snoop was not arrested and is slated to perform in Dallas on Thursday as scheduled.

Is Phish Returning to Jam Once More?

Stop showering right this second, throw your deodorant away, and grab your hacky sack, because it looks like the chances of a Phish reunion have gone from "definitely never" to "maybe soon." According to an e-mail "with a rumor that supposedly originated from [drummer] Jon Fishman," the ubiquitous jam band is reuniting and will soon record a new album, produced by Steve Lillywhite, the man behind 1996's Billy Breathes.

But a closer read of the situation suggests that maybe you shouldn't quit your job and fix up the old van based just on a single dubiously authentic e-mail. It's not that we don't believe you, Phishheads, it's just that Steve Lillywhite is in Dublin recording with Bono and U2, according to our friends at Indie Point Unlimited Supply. Not one to let a good rumor go unverified, Billboard placed a call to Lillywhite's people but got nothing better than "no comment."



Lillywhite aside, could it be that the long arm of Johnny Law smacked Trey Anastasio hard enough to make him question the band's breakup? After getting busted for having painkillers with no prescription, Anastasio told Rolling Stone that he started longing to play with Phish again "while [he] was in jail." "At this point in time I would give my left nut to play ["You Enjoy Myself"] five times in a row every night until I die," he added. New Giant Sand Release

Howe Gelb is set to release the first Giant Sand [ tickets ] album in nearly four years. "Provisions," scheduled for a Sept. 2 release, also will feature Isobell Campbell, Neko Case and M. Ward, according to a press release. This incarnation of Giant Sand is comprised of Gelb, Thoger T. Lund, Peter Dombernowsky and Anders Pedersen. The Gelb project, which began in 1980 as The Giant Sandworms, has spawned a variety of bands including Calexico, The Friends of Dean Martinez and OP8.

Bill actor Stewart in on-set 'incident'

'The Bill' actor Jeff Stewart, who plays PC Reg Hollis in the ITV drama, has been treated in hospital after an incident on set.
The incident happened after Stewart was told his contract would not be renewed, a spokeswoman for The Bill said in a statement.
Press reports suggested the 52-year-old cut his wrists on the set of the show.
The statement said: "We can confirm an incident occurred yesterday following a meeting with Jeff Stewart, when it was discussed that Jeff's contract would not be renewed.
"Our primary concern is for Jeff Stewart's welfare. We are doing everything we can to ensure Jeff is getting the help he needs, and would ask that his privacy is respected at this difficult time."

Travelling solo from days of old backyard

Yes I'm one of them," laughs singer-songwriter Luke Thompson. "And I'm hoping to keep it that way. The only 'real' job I ever had was I worked in Burger King for six months when I was about 15."At 24, the singer-songwriter from Tauranga may never have had a "proper job" but he has already put in many years at his craft and now - with the release of his debut album, Here on the Ground - feels he can talk confidently about his future as a full-time musician."An album was something I'd wanted to make since I was about 10, so Here on the Ground is like my life's work so far," he says.With songs punctuated by sensitive or socially penetrating lyrics, Here on the Ground reflects Thompson's journey from being the kid who would organise his own shows for parents and neighbours in the backyard, through high school bands ("I was just one of those kids at school who hung out in the music room and didn't venture out") and on to winning a music study scholarship after playing at a Smokefreerockquest.




Then there were years of singing in bars around Hamilton in an acoustic duo while studying music, the recording of his first single with producer Nic Manders (best known for his work with Brooke Fraser), and now the launch of his impressive debut album.For someone still so young, Thompson has a musical confidence that has made radio programmers sit up and take notice and - as he says - he has taken the harder route to get here."I started writing my own songs at about 14, trying to see what I could come up with. But I got serious about it at the Smokefreerockquest stage."A few songwriting classes at Wintec in Hamilton [where he spent three years studying all aspects of music and the industry] helped."But what helped most would be the music I was listening to. I started getting into James Taylor, John Mayer, David Gray ... They gave me the idea that you could do this alone."Most teenage kids try to start bands and make music. But it's a lot harder to do it by yourself because there is no one to bounce ideas off."But hearing some of those artists really gave me the idea to do it myself. And the bands I was in weren't always working out because I'd struggle to find anyone who would want to practise more than once a week. They would have all these things they'd put before the music - but I wanted to go full throttle every day to make it work."I was maybe 19 or 20 when I heard the music that I really based my music on. That was more the folky thing, the first one I got into was Don McLean then James Taylor and Bob Dylan. Some of it was maybe 40 years old."The first song that got me, probably when I was in the seventh form, was Vincent by Don McLean. I don't know what it was about it. Just how effective he was being with only his voice and guitar and some ideas. That attracted me to the singer-songwriter solo thing, where you would just come up with an idea and you would do the whole thing - a concert, a show or a recording - with just your fingers and your voice."

Lohan's mother set for own TV show

Lindsay Lohan's mother Dina and sister Ali are to star in a new reality TV show.
Reuters reports that the series, which has the working title 'Living Lohan', will follow the mother as she works on her 14-year-old daughter's career in showbusiness.
The series will begin this summer on the E! network.
E! said the programme would "follow Dina as she works double duty as mom and manager to help Ali try to follow in her big sister's famous footsteps".
Commenting on the series, Lisa Berger, Executive Vice President of Original Programming for E!, said Dina Lohan was "an incredibly hard-working, passionate mom that I think our viewers will find both relatable and highly entertaining".

David Cook wins American Idol

The winner takes it all! 25-year-old rocker David Cook won American Idol 2008 title, beating his tough competitor 17-year-old David Archuleta. On 20th May, it looked like David Archuleta would walk away with the coveted title. He won the hearts of the judges of the show Randy Jackson, Paula Abdul and Simon Cowell with his shooting voice. Cowell even went to the extend of saying that it was a knockout. However, American audience seems to admire the maturity in Cook and his forceful voice. He won the American Idol by getting 56% of the total 97 million votes. The American Idol finale started with a surprise. The top final 12 contestants sang George Michael's songs "Faith" and "Father Figure". Then George Michael himself took the stage and sang the song "Praying For Time". Judge Paula Abdul was in tears on hearing the song.

Lopez And Anthony Do Parenthood In 'Shifts'

Jennifer Lopez and Marc Anthony are working shifts so they can look after their baby twins without the help of a nanny. The couple is determined to bring up three month olds Max and Emme without any help, and are enjoying the experience of "figuring out" parenthood, singer Anthony reveals. The 39-year-old says, "It's just us, man. We're figuring it out and having a great time She (Lopez) expects me to help and she makes no bones about it. I get the late shift. I get literally from 10 on because we don't have a nanny. It's just me and Jennifer figuring it out. From 10 p.m. to 8 (a.m), that's my shift." And he has nothing but praise for his superstar wife, taking on her new role as a mother: "She's such an amazing mom and I'm so proud of her. She's such a gem to watch."

Springsteen collaborates on anti-war film

Bruce Springsteen, Neil Young and Pearl Jam have contributed songs to the soundtrack of a new anti-war documentary.
Billboard reports that 'Body of War: Songs That Inspired an Iraq War Veteran' will be released on 18 March on Sire Records.
All proceeds from the album will go to Iraq Veterans Against the War.
The documentary 'Body of War' tells the story of Tomas Young, a US Army soldier paralysed in Iraq.
The film will open on 13 March in Austin, Texas before opening across the US in subsequent months. European release dates have yet to be revealed.
Talk show veteran Phil Donahue co-directed the film with Ellen Spiro.
Young was the driving force behind the album, which features the single 'No More', composed specifically by Pearl Jam's Eddie Vedder for the film. Pearl Jam's live version of Bob Dylan's 'Masters of War' also features on the soundtrack.
Springsteen's track 'Devils & Dust' is on the album, as is Neil Young's 'The Restless Consumer'.
Other songs featured include 'Yo George' from Tori Amos, 'Son of a Bush' from Public Enemy and 'Bushonomics' from Talib Kweli and Cornel West.

Motley Crue - Tommy Lee Gets Animated

MOTLEY CRUE star TOMMY LEE is to lend his voice to a new cartoon - based on his life story.

The rocker has signed up to take part in the making of The Life and Times of Jimmy Jaxx, which will be produced by the team behind the 2007 film Blades of Glory.

The Fox TV show is currently under development but is said to follow a rocker who tries to balance his experiences in a band with his calmer home life - but is constantly distracted by his tattoos which come to life and attempt to lead him astray.

Lee tells Blabbermouth.net, "I've always loved the animated world. How fun and kooky is this gonna be, to combine some real-life experiences with some seriously over-the-top humour."
